Karam box office collection: Vineeth Sreenivasan's film barely makes Rs 1 cr in a week of theatrical run

Vineeth Sreenivasan's latest directorial, Karam, hit the big screen on September 25. But, in contrast to the actor and the filmmaker's previous films, this one did not leave a lasting impression on viewers or earnings at the box office within a week of its theatrical debut.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the action thriller, which starred Noble Babu Thomas in the lead role, made a total of Rs 1.22 Cr worldwide. Karam had a dismal performance in theatres, especially on weekends and the subsequent holidays this week, after earning Rs 0.47 Cr on its first day of release. This is surprising, though, because despite their flaws, Vineeth's films have never received such poor feedback from viewers. When Varshangalkku Shesham, his previous film, was released in April of last year, it became a major blockbuster. This movie, which is streaming on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium, made Rs 81.56 crore during its successful run of over four weeks in theatres.

Karam garners mixed response from viewers

The director and the rest of the team kept the movie low-key to avoid building any anticipation before its theatrical release. Given the mixed reviews the action movie received after its theatrical debut, most of the audience skipped the film.

Many people have shared their opinions about the movie on social media, and most of them believe that the director has done a good job of making it presentable in terms of both technical and production value. Meanwhile, others criticised Karam as predictable and dreary, stating that it is without a doubt Vineeth's weakest film in terms of plot and performances. Some claim that the audience was unable to relate to the characters' emotions.
