Karan Johar on Sara Ali Khan-Kartik Aaryan's relationship: ‘What is true is true and I suppose everyone is okay with it’

The latest season of Karan Johar's talk show Koffee With Karan might only be in its sixth episode but it has already courted enough controversies to keep netizens busy. While celeb confessions and sensational rumours in each of these episodes have been a topic discussion, there have also been criticism that the filmmaker discloses personal details and information about actors without their permission.

In one of the episodes this season, Karan revealed Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan's romance, which both celebs till then had not confirmed. In the second episode, in which Sara and Janhvi Kapoor were the guests, Karan disclosed that Sara did, in fact, date Kartik. Even though Sara and Kartik are no longer together, many people took offence at Karan's disclosure of their personal affairs without their permission.

The director recently spoke in an interview about being accused of releasing sensitive facts about celebs' relationships without their knowledge. He told Siddharth Kannan that he was not making them up and that everyone is aware of these relationships.

The filmmaker added, “What is true is true and I suppose everyone is okay with it. I know people think it's some kind of big revelation, everybody knows about everyone’s personal lives and they are okay with putting it out.”

Meanwhile, Kartik and Sara had met in public for the first time since their breakup, at an international magazine's award event a few weeks ago. They were most recently spotted together again at an award event.

The couple were rumoured to be dating during the production of their film with Imtiaz Ali, Love Aajkal 2, a few years ago. At roughly the same time, Sara admitted to having a crush on Kartik on Koffee with Karan season 6. The couple reportedly broke up a few weeks before the film's premiere.

The most recent guests in the show, which can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar, were Sonam Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor. Karan is also busy with his directorial comeback, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
