Karan Johar puts rumours of Koffee with Karan Season 7 to a rest with 'a heavy heart'

Koffee with Karan has garnered a cult following since it first premiered on TV in 2004. Hosted by filmmaker-producer Karan Johar, the talk show brought the who's who of the film industry to our screens for candid, fun and intimate chats. However, the show won't be returning for the seventh season.

Much to everyone's disappointment, Karan took to social media to make this announcement. He wrote that while he knows how much the show means to fans and how it has left an indelible mark in Indian pop culture history, he won't be back for a new season.

Koffee with Karan saw the host bring out the boldest confessions and showed a different side to celebrities we have come to know and love. It was his unique hosting style, his ability to extract celebrities' secrets and especially the rapid-fire round that made this show so popular on TV. 

Koffee with Karan ran for six seasons, with its last and final instalment concluding in 2019. 

Lately, there were rumours of the show's seventh season being in the pipeline. There were speculations that the show will air in May this year and would feature newlyweds Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor as the first guests. 

Akshay Kumar, Rashmika Mandanna, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Sidharth Malhotra were also expected to make an appearance.

However, it seems like Karan's decision to not go forward with a new season is set in stone. He has branched out to be a part of other reality TV formats like being a judge on contests like Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, What the Love for Netflix, and hosting Bigg Boss OTT.
