Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra all got their start in the industry thanks to Karan Johar and his film Student of the Year (2012). So, that has to be a topic of discussion in the upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8. The filmmaker will discuss how Varun and Sidharth tried to discourage him from casting Alia in the campus drama in the forthcoming episode. Interestingly, Alia is considered the biggest female star in the Hindi film industry.
Varun and Sidharth's initial resistance to Alia's casting:
Karan recalled that when Alia first stepped in, both of them messaged him, stating he shouldn't cast her. He also revealed that they all agreed that she was too young. Moreover, the filmmaker recalled a photoshoot taking place three months later, during which she stood silently, not making eye contact with any of them. Varun and Sidharth knew Karan already, but she didn't, so she was either self-aware or timid. They did the shoot, and after seeing the first photo, he was convinced she was destined for stardom. KJo further disclosed that the two actors were giving him photographs of other girls, hoping that he would cast one of them instead of Alia.

The filmmaker-host takes his guests on a trip down memory lane in the Disney+ Hotstar show, recalling the day that Sidharth nearly shattered Varun's nose on set. When Karan went to the hospital, Alia was wailing loudly, but Varun's family was solely concerned about Sidharth. They were like, "Yeh Varun ki galti hogi." The Bhediya actor quipped that he thinks they wanted to hit him for a while.
