Just when we thought that the Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant pre-wedding festivities were over and we now have a breather to sink in the grandeur until July when the actual wedding takes place, we saw Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Ranveer Singh back in Jamnagar. And now it feels like the Ambanis are not letting the buzz settle down and there is much more to their celebrations left.
But while the entire tinsel town was in Jamnagar last weekend with even Rihanna marking her attendance to perform alongside Diljit Dosanjh, what had us all curious was when do we get to see Karan Johar in the festivities. But turns out he didn’t make it to the event entirely and his absence was the talk of the town for three days and this entire week. Now we might have found the reason.
Reason Behind Karan Johar's Absence
Karan Johar, over the years, alongside being a filmmaker, producer, and talk show host, is also the soul of parties and celebrations in Bollywood. No wedding is complete without his performance and when fans and netizens didn’t find him at the Ambani bash, they were curious to know what exactly happened. Turns out we have now found the reason behind his absence and there is no drama here but just health concerns. According to the latest report by India Today, Karan was supposed to attend the event but fell ill at the last moment and had to cancel his plans.
A source close to Karan Johar revealed that the filmmaker developed a bout of viral fever and was also suffering from pain in his throat. This led to the decision that he would have to give the Ambani pre-wedding festivities a miss. However, the source also revealed that Karan did have elaborate plans in place for the event. He was not only going to attend but also give a performance with his close friend Manish Malhotra. The two had even rehearsed for it a lot in the days before he fell ill. Manish had to continue with the performance without Karan.
The report also says that Karan Johar has sent his wishes to Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant and also plans to meet the couple soon. He even had lovely things to say about the entire family in his latest Instagram caption where he posted a video from the Hastakshar event where Radhika was seen walking towards Anant in total filmy style, all emotional, and with love in her eyes.
