Karan Johar's Dostana 2 was grabbing eyeballs ever since the project that caused a fallout between the filmmaker and Silvat actor Kartik Aaryan was revived. Right from the lead actor to release date and platform, all was spilled about the movie. But now we hear an interesting news. The movie, which was supposed to release on an OTT platform after its theatrical release, has decided to go direct-to-OTT way. Not just that, a deal might be confirmed with a competitor platform. Dostana 2 might be going the direct-to-OTT route given the tense situation between India-Pakistan. PeepingMoon reports that Dostana 2 is now an OTT original film.

There were speculations till last night that Dostana 2 would be out on Netflix after its theatrical release. However, the most recent report suggests that they were merely speculations and Dostana 2 would actually be a Prime Video Original film.

The changes in Dostana 2

Of course, since Kartik Aaryan moved on with Naagzilla, he is not a part of Dostana 2 anymore. It is to be noted that the movie reportedly caused a cold war between Kartik and Karan back in 2020, causing Dostana 2 to be on the backburner till now.

Since the project is finally revived, Kill-famed actor Lakshya Kapoor is back on the film. He is speculated to be paired opposite Love Hostel actor Vikrant Massey. Janhvi Kapoor, who was supposed to play the female lead on the project, is out of the movie. The makers are still looking for a replacement for her.

Advait Chandan, who had directed Aamir Khan (last seen in Kajol's Salaam Venky), is on-board as the director for the movie. The film is expected to go on floors in November. The release date for this one is not yet confirmed.
