Karan Tacker is sure no OTT platform would work with him if not for Neeraj Pandey’s support with Special Ops – Here’s Why

From Special Ops to Bhay, Karan Tacker has made a name for himself on OTT in today’s time. However, as he confessed himself, the journey hasn’t been easy. The actor told Variety India in an interview about how there’s a constant pushback when it comes to working with TV actors. Here’s everything he said…

Why does Karan Tacker feel no OTT platform would work with him if not for Neeraj Pandey’s support with Special Ops?

“Believe me, even till date it's been about five and a half years that I have been an actor on OTT, had I not had Neeraj Pandey's support, I don't think any platform would have wanted to work with me,” Karan Tacker stated to the portal. He reasoned it as the industry’s bias against TV actors playing leads. “Because everyone has such a bias against actors from television. They are very, very clear that if the actor is from TV, they do not want to cast him in a lead role. So, there was a lot of pushback. There was massive pushback on Special Ops, Khakee: The Bihar Chapter and even on Bhay,” he reasoned.

While Special Ops introduced Karan Tacker to OTT, Khakee gave him fame and his solo series Bhay put him on the poster. However, the actor still feels like the doors on TV actors remain closed, especially when it comes to the mainstream filmmakers. “I am in a very good place where a lot of work is coming my way, and I have the privilege of selecting what I want to do. But does that mean every door is open? Definitely not. I still reach out to the biggest makers. Sometimes you get a reply, sometimes you don't,” Karan shared. He also pointed out how the same faces tend to appear in films, on OTT and in brands and thus, the actor feels that there is a need for newness within the industry.
