Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery is a paranormal thriller series about India's first certified paranormal investigator, Gaurav Tiwari, and unexplained circumstances surrounding his mysterious death, with sceptical journalist Ankita (Kalki Koechlin) investigating his legacy. The series on Amazon MX Player has been receiving praise from fans. Now, in an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Danish Sood, who played a key role in Bhay, confirmed that Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery Season 2 is coming and also shared what fans can expect from the new season.
"I feel great. We have put a lot of love and effort, apart from just time, into it. We wanted the show to grow. So, whether season 2 is going to happen or not, it depends on the audience. I feel glad and hope that it gets a lot more love than we thought," Dainish said.
What was your first reaction when you heard you were auditioning for a series inspired by Gaurav Tiwari?
I had heard about Girls Night Out, which was the show that came on MTV, and people had told me about it when I even read for it, read for the part. I thought that it would be something different and it would be something really interesting, but I think when we started reading scenes, my first scene was a very different scene. We didn't have enough information about what the paranormal consisted of and what it was about. It was just more like a hint of something that I am talking to Kalki about in the audition sequence. But yeah, it was, I read about seeing a soft MTV night out, and I had done a little bit of research as well to see what the God of Terror was actually about, what his lifestyle was and all.

The whole IPS is real, so is Gaurav Tiwari. I feel ghosts or paranormal activity is something that you think you can believe in, but also you cannot believe in it, so the first thing to become a paranormal activist is ideally to be a believer in the paranormal, then you can move forward.
Since the series deals with paranormal phenomena that don’t always have logical explanations, were there moments while filming when even you found yourself thinking, “This feels impossible?"
Actually, there were plenty. I think we didn't think it would be funny to not think that some paranormal activity would happen because, at the end of the day, as much of a believer that you'd be, there's always some element of surprise that you think or you feel because you're shooting paranormal. So it's not in shooting, it's not as paranormal as it seems like because people are standing around. You are not visiting a ghost or an element.
But we noticed a couple of things, a couple of shots that we even captured where Karan is sitting in the back, and there is a silhouette that moves so fast, and you're shooting the entire footage on a slow motion, and so that everything would be way faster. And so when you're watching the entire shot, and then we had that clip, the clip showcases that the white silhouette was so fast, it was so fast that it's impossible for a human being to be that fast.
Recalling a paranormal experience while shooting, Danish added, "Also in bite, it was very tight, but we captured it on camera. There was one time when the cameras were not working, but the cameras were switched on. So a lot of other things that kept on happening, which we even shot in locations which have had paranormal incidents."
"One of the hostels, the Hawkins Hostel, which is what we called it in and around Bombay, is a place in R.A. where we shot this, and it's known to have paranormal activity on the floor. And honestly, more than anything else, you feel a feeling of eeriness, a feeling that things don't seem the usual. So you are also confused about it, but obviously you can't make judgments.
But these two events were really very, very close to us. And another place that we shot, far, far away, five hours away from Bombay, where we were shooting certain bits, those places also had a lot of elements where we saw, we heard at night. We heard a clip of someone dancing very far away in the jungle, and someone captured it around 3 a.m. at night in one of those places. So yeah, there has been a lot," he said.
Did performing in eerie locations affect you mentally, like somehow, since it's paranormal?
Honestly, it affects you for a bit, but again, work is work. And since there are so many people present, you cannot feel that eeriness until you come back home and then you acquire all your thoughts, and you're like, oh, this actually happened. And then you think about it, and it feels more eerier than the usual. But apart from that, usually, I feel like when you're shooting, and there are 100 people, 100-200 people present on set, you cannot feel the idea completely.
How was it working with Kalki Koechlin, Karan Tacker, and others in Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery?
It was amazing. Kalki's so sweet. She's so, she's easy to work with. I've met Karan a couple of times, but we also read a lot together before we started shooting, because we were shooting a hectic schedule and had to finish a lot of things in not the maximum number of days. Everyone was super prepped. Even the director, obviously, was very communicative, and he wanted things in a way, they'd already done their own previs, their own homework. So, everyone was prepped so much that it was so easy to work around all of them.
It was lovely to actually watch actors who, you know, we want to work with and we also start working with to see their method, their process and how easy it is for them, the whole entire process of giving take and how sweet they are in general to, you know, to change, to help you, guide you and yeah, work and do better.

If you want season 2 to happen, do you want it to follow the life of Gaurav Tiwari only or like any other incident?
Honestly, there are already certain things that have been written down for season 2. Season 2 would largely revolve around the suspicious death and a couple of other cases that we have not showcased, which existed in previous drafts, and a lot more bigger than the first season, because the first season has the element, but we have yet to visit what it actually entails and what it is about. So yeah, I think that is very important.
