Only hours after news broke that Rocking Star Yash and the team of his upcoming film Toxic had finally gone on floors, a new report suggests that Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was supposedly one of three leading ladies, has parted ways with them. The actress, according to rumours, was said to be playing Yash’s sister in the film. Her casting, or that of Kiara Advani and Shruthi Haasan who are also said to be a part of Toxic, has never been officially confirmed by the team. In fact, other than the title launch way back in December last year, production house KVN Productions has not made any announcement about the film.

According to the latest, Kareena has excused herself from Toxic owing to scheduling issues. According to sources, though, the more likely reason is creative differences, given that the team has been working on pre-production for months together and would have accounted for artiste schedules before going on floors.

Netizens, who have been waiting for KVN to provide some update about the film, are less than pleased that the start to the film has been bumpy. There are some voices, though, who are pleased that Kareena is no longer a part of the film, probably the same people who were not happy about her casting in the first place and subjected her to severe ageism.

Directed by Moothon maker Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is said to be a film set in the 60s and 70s, that explores the drug mafia in Goa. A gangster film presented in a female perspective, that is what Geetu is aiming for.

Yash’s last theatrical release was KGF: Chapter 2 in April 2022, following which all eyes were on the actor about what his next film would be, given how monstrous of a hit the Prashant Neel directorial was. There was a lot of speculation about who he would collaborate with next, while Hombale Films said that a third KGF film was on the anvil. Eventually, Yash clarified that he wanted to do something different before returning to play KGF’s Rocky Bhai.
