Even an actress like Kareena Kapoor Khan is being stereotyped as Poo till date. She made the big revelation during the trailer launch of her upcoming film, Jaane Jaan. The actress was talking about how she manages to stay relevant even today, after working in the industry for decades. While giving her mantra, she also accepted that there is a certain stereotype which an actress of even her stature is trying to break.

Kareena accepts she has been stereotyped

Kareena started her response with saying that there’s no thought behind staying relevant but trying to do something different each time. As she says, ‘at any stage in their life.’ While saying so, Bebo also accepted that it has been very difficult to break the stereotypes set through her characters Poo (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham) and Ki (Ki and Ka). “I’ll of course be known for that (the iconic characters), whether it’s Poo or Ki, it’s just fit into people’s minds,” she said.

She hints makers want to recreate the magic of Chameli and Omkara

“Even though I have always tried, people still push those roles ahead. People have seen that a character has worked well – Chameli, Omkara – they still go back to that,” the actress added. She became iconic with Sudhir Mishra’s Chameli. Omkara, on the other hand, had many iconic characters, including Kareena’s husband Saif’s. He played the role of Langda Tyagi in the movie.

How is Kareena staying relevant?

“That has been a conscious effort, that at least now, I want to do different things,” Kareena said. She hopes that at least now people will notice her efforts and provide her with different roles. Through her process, Bebo strongly believes that she will keep coming back as an actor.

Jaane Jaan is a film that is adapted from the bestselling Japanese novel, The Devotion of Suspect X. It will start streaming on Netflix from September 21, 2023. The film is backed by Ekta Kapoor.
