Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the official Hindi remake of Robert Zemeckis’ Forrest Gump, is only a few weeks away from its highly-anticipated release. As the movie’s makers are slowly starting to get busy with its promotional work, actor Kareena Kapoor has now revealed why she agreed to be a part of the movie.
When asked if she took up the movie because Aamir Khan was a part of it, she told Prabhat Khabar that the actor-producer does not work like that. “He never says do this film because I am also in it. He always says ‘listen to the story first of all’. He asked me to listen to a narration for this film as well. He gave me a four-hour-long narration and that is why I said yes to Laal Singh Chaddha,” she said.
Kareena Kapoor Khan also revealed that she had to also give an audition to be a part of the movie because she could prove that she is perfect for the role and also for the older parts. The movie was supposed to be released a few months back but was pushed back after delays in VFX work.
Directed by Advait Chandan, the Hindi remake’s adapted screenplay is penned by Atul Kulkarni. The original version of the coming-of-age movie starring Tom Hanks was released in 1994. The movie follows a young boy as he grows up into a successful man by being a part of some historic moments.
Apart from Aamir and Kareena in the lead, the Hindi remake also stars Naga Chaitanya in an important role. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, the movie is set to hit theatres on August 11.
