In March, Anushka Sharma announced that she will no longer be a part of the Clean Slatez Filmz team. Her brother and co-founder Karnesh Ssharma recently spoke about her exit in an interview.

Karnesh told The Indian Express that Anushka has always been crucial in the making of the company since its inception, and that she has contributed many “great and unique” ideas. He explained that producing is a demanding job and because she is a new mother, her priorities have changed.

“She was very open and frank about what she said and it is all good; she is there with us in spirit. Moving forward, you never know what happens. I think this is the phase in her life, and there could be another phase in her life where she comes back, it is her company as much as it is mine,” he added.

Anushka informed fans of her exit with a note on social media. In her note, she wrote that was ‘deeply proud’ of how far the banner had come and credited Karnesh for getting the company to where it is today. Anushka talked about how having a child has forced her to balance her personal and professional lives in new ways. She explained she wants to focus on dedicating more time to her ‘first love’ which is acting.

Clean Slate Filmz has produced films like NH10, Pari, Phillauri as well as the Netflix film Bulbbul, and the gritty Amazon Prime Video series Pataal Lok.

One of the banner’s upcoming projects is Chakda Xpress, a film based on the life of cricketer Jhulan Goswami, with which Anushka will make her comeback to the screen. She will be seen in a feature three years after Zero, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, which was a box office flop. Chamda Xpress is directed by Prosit Roy, and will be out on Netflix on February 2, 2023.
