Japan underperforms at the box office
Karthi’s 25th film Japan, which released on November 10, unfortunately turned out to be a box office failure. Despite director Raju Murugan’s attempt to create a unique heist comedy drama with Karthi portraying a quirky character, the story failed to connect with the audience. This lack of audience appeal is the primary reason behind Japan’s disappointing performance at the box office.
It earned around ₹16.60 crores in India during its first six days, managing to mint ₹25 crores at the end of the first week, despite below-average reviews from the audience.
The movie also stars Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, KS Ravikumar, Jithan Ramesh and Bava Chelladurai, with GV Prakash scoring the music for the film.
