The audio launch of Karthi's upcoming film Viruman was held last night in Madurai and the event was attended by the entire star cast and crew. Karthi, the lead actor of the film, was blown away by the love and affection he received for the film.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, "When I was roped in to work for my maiden film, Paruthiveeran, which was shot in Madurai, I looked like this, cleanshaven, without a moustache. I had just returned from the US and many people asked at the press meet how the team was going to convert me into the rustic rural character I played in the film. The film's director Ameer had told me that I should transform into a person that will bash up ten people. Only then can I act in the film. So he converted me into Paruthiveeran. I received a lot of love and appreciation for the film and it's your motivation that keeps me going.
Karthi added that when it came to films in the rural backdrop, Madurai was the default choice. " Lot of people talked about why rural films are important? In villages, when they see a girl, they dedicate their lives to them. People tend to live with their extended families in villages and it's a blessing to live with them. And somehow I have always returned to Madurai for rural subjects- be it Komban or Viruman. Thanks to director Muthaiah for that.
Talking about the film, Karthi said, "In Viruman, my father is my biggest villain. And who else can play a solid character than Prakash Raj sir. He is someone who doesn't take money for all roles and says that some should be merely for the experience. It was a blessing to work with him. I had always wanted to work with veteran actress Vadivukkarasi and I am glad to finally work with her in the film. I also worked with Bharathiraja, and it was a fantastic experience. His son, Manoj is a dear friend of mine. When I asked if he could work in the film, he was more than happy to be part of it." He also thanked all the artistes and technicians associatied with the film.
