Another actor is turning a singer in the tinsel town. Karthi, basking high on the success of Virumaan recently, has now crooned for the new single from the Sharwanand, Ritu Varma’s sci-fi comedy Oke Oka Jeevitham. The catchy, fun song titled Maaripoye was launched today. Jakes Bejoy scores the music for the Tamil, Telugu bilingual film written and directed by debutant Shree Karthick.

Maaripoye is a number that offers us a peek into the film’s core theme revolving around a bunch of protagonists going back and forth in time for a purpose. The number is an interesting take on the entire time-travel angle in the story and how the protagonists react to the change in the timeline. Sharwanand, Priyadarshi and Vennela Kishore, in the film, are thick buddies who return to their childhood years.

Karthi, right in the beginning of the song, even says ‘Nene padutunna’ in a lyrical video shot more like a cover number. A group of kids in the song wear their VR gears as they watch Karthi perform and even join him later and shake a leg. Jakes Bejoy’s number is effortlessly cool and has the right rhythm to work with music buffs. All the three singles from the film have made an impact to date.

Amala Akkineni is cast as Sharwanand’s mother in the film. Going by the promos, Sharwa plays a son who loses his mom early in life and seeks to relive those moments by going back in time through a time-machine designed by a scientist (played by Nasser). The theme is equally innovative and has an emotional connect too.

Oke Oka Jeevitham is Sharwanand’s 30th film in a career spanning over one and a half decades. The film is bankrolled by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures. This is their first direct project in the Telugu market. The film wrapped its shoot in early 2021. Sujith Sarang cranks the camera for the film edited by his brother Sreejith Sarang. Satheesh Kumar is the art director. Tharun Bhascker has come up with the dialogues for the Telugu version.

The film, titled Kanam in the Tamil version, hits theatres in both languages on September 9.
