Karthi says filming Ponniyin Selvan with Mani Ratnam was ‘all that he dreamt of’; see actor’s post

Ponniyin Selvan is touted to be the magnum opus of Kollywood stalwart and National award winning director Mani Ratnam. The historical epic, which certainly does not lack in terms of star power, sees Karthi in a pivotal role. The star recently shared a delightful moment he experienced on the film sets that helped him live out one of his ardent desires.

Taking to his official social media handles, the star shared a photograph of him with a stunning chestnut coloured horse. In the post’s caption, the star talked of his lifelong fascination with the creatures, and how through Ponniyin Selvan, he got a chance to live out one of his biggest dreams of bonding with them. The star also mentioned that while he had to learn horse riding for her role in Kaashmora(2016), it was on the sets of his upcoming film that he felt the ‘exhilaration’ of actually connecting with one.

The upcoming film, one of the most anticipated films of the year, is bankrolled under the banner of Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. The film is based on the 1955 historical fiction novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. A. R. Rahman has composed the film’s music.

Ponniyin Selvan will be released in theatres on September 30, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
