Karthi says Japan will entertain and make you think, praises Nani’s Dasara, shares an update on Kaithi 2

Karthi, who was seen in Ponniyin Selvan 2 this year, is back in a con comedy titled Japan, a story based on a real life thief. The film, produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, is written and directed by Raju Murugan and releases in theatres simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. Annapurna Studios is releasing the film in Telugu. The pre-release event of Japan was held yesterday.

Hi Nanna star Nani was the chief guest for Japan’s pre-release event. Karthi was all praise for Nani’s versatility as a show host, producer and actor, appreciating his work in Dasara, Shyam Singha Roy and remembering how Jersey is special for every father out there. He is reportedly being flooded with questions on Kaithi 2 and he assured the film will go on floors in the coming months.

“Raju Murugan is one of most important directors we have in cinema, he has great love for the society. When he narrated the script to me, I realised I had to change the way I look and speak. Japan is the story of a thief who had a unique approach to life and interesting outlook towards society. The film may look like an entertainer, but it is an emotional ride and will make you think,” Karthi added.

Japan will be a new experience for audiences. “When Kaithi released, many asked me how could I accept such a story. I am being asked the same question for Japan.” Cinematographer Ravi Varman has given an international appeal to a rooted story, he said. He applauded Anu Emmanuel for her work and said Dream Warrior Pictures has another good product after Kaashmora, Khaki and Kaithi.

Nagarjuna, whose Annapurna Studios released Karthi’s Sardar in Telugu states, reportedly watched the film back then and predicted it would be a hit here. He is hoping to receive a call from the star this time as well. He addressed director Vamsi Paidipally as family and that he could visit his home anytime. Karthi said he follows Sunil’s advice of doing justice to work and thinking of money later.
