Karthik Kumar’s Super Senior Heroes now available on Netflix

Comedian-turned-filmmaking Karthik Kumar’s directorial, Super Senior Heroes, was released on the streaming platform Netflix, recently. The family comedy got a worldwide release on Sun TV, on October 16, 2022.

Super Senior Heroes features veteran actors like Ambika, K Bhagyaraj, Chinni Jayanth, and Pandiarajan, and is produced by Yoodlee Films, a division of Saregama India.

This is Yoodlee's third Tamil project after Abhiyum Anuvum and KD Engira Karuppudurai.

Bhagyaraj, the lead actor, plays the character of a widower, whose life is dull and without any enthusiasm. Then, one day, his 7-year-old grandson visits him, which gives him joy and a breath of fresh air and the story takes an interesting angle.

Siddharth Anand Kumar, Senior VP of Saregama India, said that Super Senior Heroes was a one-of-a-kind film that redefined the concept of superheroes. “The film conveys the message that inner strength and determination are more important than physical stability. Superheroes are always portrayed as young and energetic. But this shows us as something different, which would be equally appealing for the kids and elders.”

This comedy-drama will get a wider reach through its release on Netflix and this will be a perfect Deepavali watch for children, added Siddharth.

Notably, Ambika and Bhagyaraj co-starred in the popular Andha 7 Naatkal (1981 Tamil romance drama).

On the other hand, Pandiarajan, who has a small part in Andha 7 Naatkal, had assisted Bhagyaraj as a director before making his directorial debut with the 1985 film Kanni Rasi.

Super Senior Heroes is the directorial debut of Karthik Kumar, and Netflix released the trailer on YouTube.

Karthik thanked Yoodlee Films for providing a wider platform for his debut and said that he felt happy and privileged to be a part of the project.

“I was constantly motivated by Bhagyaraj sir and Ambika ma'am's performance and commitment to the arts while I saw their films as a child. They continue to act with the same vigour and zest even after all these years. I had a lot of nice feedback from viewers after the Sun TV premiere, and I hope more people will like it when it comes out on Netflix.”
