Karthik Subbaraj, a prominent voice in Tamil film industry, stirred some expectations when he announced that he will be teaming up with actor Suriya for a film. Titled Retro, the film is scheduled to release on May 1.
The filmmaker, who made a smashing debut with horror heist film Pizza , has made numerable films like Jigarthanda and Iraivi, made a comparison between his Rajinikanth starrer Petta and Suriya’s Retro. Here is what he has to say, in one of the interviews.
"I think people will like it (Retro). From the films that I have made, I would tell Retro is more mainstream film, after Petta. I always try to make towards art side within mainstream. The percentage might vary. Because Petta is out and out commercial film. Retro has more fun and emotions, and I am curious how the audience will take it,” he said.
Headlined by the 7 Aum Arivu star Suriya, it marks the actor’s 44th film. Besides him, the film also features Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Joju George, and Karunakaran. Retro is scheduled to release in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.
Santhosh Narayanan has scored music for the film. The recently released single Kanimaa has become a viral sensation on social media.
