There are very few sequels in the history of Telugu cinema that have passed muster. The makers of the surprise hit, the supernatural thriller Karthikeya, will certainly face the challenge of meeting audience’s expectations with the film’s sequel that hits theatres on July 22 this year. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Karthikeya 2 stars Nikhil, Anupama Parameswaran and Anupam Kher in key roles.

Team Karthikeya 2 released the first look and a motion poster today, offering a glimpse of the film’s premise. In the poster, the leads, Nikhil, Anupama and comedian Srinivas Reddy are embarking on a mission to dig out answers beneath the world’s biggest mystery hidden under the waters - Dwaraka. There are two saffron flags, a flock of birds with the trio giving a stare.

Kaala Bhairava composes the music for Karthikeya 2, edited by Goutham Nerusu and cinematographed by Karthik Gattamaneni.

Karthikeya 2 is bankrolled by TG Vishwa Prasad and Abhishek Agarwal (the maker of The Kashmir Files) under Abhishek Agarwal Arts and People Media Factory. The ZEE group has acquired the film’s satellite (ZEE Telugu, Zee Cinemalu) and streaming rights (ZEE5). Karthikeya 2 will release in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada.
