Kartik Aaryan describes whether he lied about dating Sara Ali Khan: I have been single for the past 1 year

Kartik Aaryan has reportedly disclosed the timing of his breakup with Sara Ali Khan, whose courtship as well as eventual breakup were both verified by filmmaker Karan Johar on his chat show Koffee With Karan. Kartik claimed that he's been single for more than a year instead of providing any details about his previous relationships.

Kartik was put in a difficult situation after being suspected of lying about his romantic state in earlier interviews in which he claimed to be "in love" with his profession. Despite his refusal to remark on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Sara or whether he lied about it, he maintained that he is currently single.

In response to being informed that his earlier claims regarding his love life appear to be incorrect in light of the on Koffee With Karan, Kartik commented to Film Companion, "Mai pichle sava saal se single hoon, baaki mujhe kuch nahi pataa (I have been single from the last 1.25 years, I don't know about anything else)". When informed that 1.25 years is a pretty precise time frame, Kartik was speechless and only blushed.

Kartik quickly recanted his claim after already being informed that it will be highlighted that he had been single for the previous 1.25 years. He claimed, "I have been single for the past 1 year." He went on to say, "I am not reducing the time period slowly...it just was not precise." When asked if he would keep referring to his profession as his relationship, Kartik responded, "No it's not like that. But I am single. That's about it."

In the course of the interview, the actor also engaged in a funny exchange with the spectators, who absolutely refused to recognize his statements about being single.

Long-running rumours claimed that Kartik and Sara were dating when they were filming Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal 2, their sole venture together, and therefore that they split up just before the movie's premiere. Although the stars were silent about it, Karan brought up their relationship during Sara's visit on Koffee With Karan season 7.
