Kartik Aaryan’s first release of the year, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, had made waves in the industry. After a number of high profile Bollywood films failed to make a mark on the box office, the Anees Bazmee directorial featuring Kartik in the lead had gone on to become one of the highest grossing Hindi films of the year. But despite still riding high on his recent success, Kartik still remembers the difficult path he had to tread to get to where he is today.

During a CNN-News18 event, as reported by TOI and Pinkvilla, the actor recalled how difficult his journey in Bollywood was, and how long it took him to be an established actor. Kartik said that although his journey had not been easy, he was thankful that he got his start in the industry at the age of 20.

Joking about how it was like starting his career as a child artist, he said that he had witnessed a number of ups and downs, hits and flops. “For the longest time, a lot of people didn't know my name”, he said.

Kartik had made his Bollywood debut with 2011’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama. The Luv Ranjan directorial, along with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, are widely regarded as the films which shot him to fame. The actor spoke of how people used to only know him as the ‘monologue guy’ from Pyaar Ka Punchnama. The actor believes that it was Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety which established him as a household name.

The actor went on to talk about how he had ‘seen everything’ through the course of his career, and said he had been both lucky and unlucky in his journey. But looking back, Kartik does not want to change anything about his journey and added that he was in a good space at the moment, enjoying the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Dhamaka.
