Kartik Aaryan’s monologue from Pyaar Ka Punchnama might still be imprinted onto the minds of many. Propelling to fame after starring in this 2011 buddy drama by Luv Ranjan, Aaryan has gained recognition for his roles in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Love Aaj Kal 2.
Though audiences are used to seeing Aaryan in ‘boy-next-door’ characters, the actor is prepared to surprise his fans in Dhamaka. Portraying the role of a journalist who is covering a live broadcast of a terror attack, Dhamaka is reportedly releasing in May or June 2021.
The teaser for Dhamaka was released last month which added to the anticipation of Aaryan’s fans. The film has reportedly been sold to OTT giant Netflix for a tidy sum of Rs. 135 crore, which is rumoured to be the highest fee paid by any OTT platform for a film.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many filmmakers have turned to OTT platforms to release their projects. The recent additions to this list have been Joji, Ajeeb Daastaans and Pagglait. Directed by Ram Madhvani, Dhamaka is set to join this list and premiere on Netflix soon.
The official Hindi remake of the 2014 South Korean film The Terror Live, Dhamaka is the tale of an ambitious news anchor who monopolizes the live broadcast of a terrorist attack. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Amruta Subhash in pivotal roles.
Kartik Aaryan seems to have a packed schedule with films lined up. The actor will also be seen in Dostana 2 with Janhvi Kapoor and Bhool Bhulaiya 2 with Kiara Advani.
