Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film, Satyanarayan Ki Katha, which is directed by Sameer Vidwans, has come under scrutiny for its title. The director has now decided to change its title to “avoid hurting sentiments, even if that's purely unintentional.”

For those unaware, Satyanarayan is another name for the Hindu deity, Lord Vishnu. Sameer issued a statement that was shared by Kartik on his social media. “A title of the film is something that emerges organically through the creative process,” the statement read. The filmmaker mentioned that steps have been taken to change the title and a new name for this love story will be decided soon. The film is expected to go into production later this year.

The movie has been targeted by a religious outfit called Sanskriti Bachao Manch, based in Madhya Pradesh. Criminal cases have been registered against its producer Sajid Nadiawala in numerous police stations in Bhopal. Nadiawala was also threatened against coming to the city.

In an interview with India Today, Chdrashekhar Tiwari, the president of Sanskriti Bachao Manch, alleged that efforts have been made by films recently to humiliate Hindu deities. He also added that the organisation will not tolerate any attempt being made to hurt Hindu public sentiments by producing such films.

Kartik had announced this project in June, professing his excitement at working with National Award winners in the musical love story along with Nadiawala. He had recently bowed out of Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, creating confusion among fans. The actor will also be seen in Bhool Bhulaiya 2 and Ram Madhvani’s Dhamaka soon.
