Kate Beckinsale has anger issues in her upcoming film Jolt. Produced by Amazon Studios and directed by Tanya Wexler, the film narrates the story of a woman with anger-management problems, who controls her temperament issues with a form of a shock therapy. However, her progress goes for a toss when her close one is murdered and she embarks on a revenge-filled mission.
Essaying the role of Lindy is Beckinsale, who has tackled action before in the Underworld franchise. Apart from her, Jolt boasts of a star-studded cast including Bobby Cannavale, Laverne Cox, Jai Courtney, Susan Sarandon, David Bradley, Ori Pfeffer and Stanley Tucci.
In the trailer, we see Lindy as a sardonically-funny woman harbouring a painful secret. As a result of a rare neurological disorder, she undergoes sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses, which ‘makes her snap’, that can only be corrected by shocking herself with a special electrode device. Never having succeeded at love, she finally meets someone special, only to be separated the next day, as he gets murdered. This forces her to plunge into a vengeful path and catch those guilty.
An action comedy, the movie promises a solid package of a strong plot, humor elements and plenty of action sequences. With the trailer setting high expectations, only time will decide whether the movie can rise to meet these. Jolt will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video from July 23.
