Kathal on Netflix: Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav's OTT film releases on THIS date

Kathal starring Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Raaz and Rajpal Yadav is an upcoming investigative satire comedy movie produced by the Oscar-winning filmmaker Guneet Monga and directed by Yashowardhan Mishra. The upcoming venture was announced among multiple line-ups by Netflix in September 2022. Meanwhile, the makers have finally unveiled the release date of the OTT film.

Netflix collaborated with the lead actor Sanya in an Instagram post to announce the release date of the film. The OTT giant took the new poster to its official handle that sees the Dangal actor standing in disappointment as she holds a Jackfruit in her hand. Vijay can be seen as a character of a politician, while Rajpal appears to be a local journalist holding a camera. The quirky caption on the social media post reads, "Verified @sanyamalhotra_ is on a search to find a missing Kathal. Will it be fruitful? Find out on #Kathal, arriving on Netflix on May 19th!

Last year, the hilarious official teaser of Kathal witnessed how the full police force of the area devotedly investigates the case of two missing Jackfruits from the house of a politician.

The makers dropped the teaser video with a special caption on Netflix's YouTube channel that reads, "A manhunt for a fruit? Is this real life or just fantasy? How will this bizarre case unfold? We can’t wait to witness it. Watch this epic tale of the strangest case in #Kathal, coming soon, only on Netflix! (sic)."

Inspired by true events, the story of ‘Kathal- A Jackfruit Mystery’ comes straight from the heartlands of India, placed in a fictional town called Moba. 

The upcoming movie is directed by Yashowardhan Mishra, who has also written it along with Ashok Mishra. 

Bankrolled by Guneet Monga Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor, under the banner of Sikhya Entertainment, Balaji Telefilms Ltd., the forthcoming flick also has Anant V Joshi, Vikram Pratap, Neha Saraf, Govind Pandey and Aeklavya Tomer in key roles.
