Katrina Kaif admits she was 'not happy' about New York - 'I was angsty in my heart' | Here's what changed her mind

Katrina Kaif has many hit Bollywood films to her credit. One of them is the 2009 film New York, which was directed by filmmaker Kabir Khan. Katrina starred alongside John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the movie, which made approximately Rs 75 crore at the box office. Several years down the line, Katrina admitted that she was not very happy when Aditya Chopra offered her New York. The actress felt it was a small movie that was offered to her.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Katrina Kaif revealed her first thoughts about Kabir Khan's New York. The actress thought it was a small film which was more artsy and had no song and dance. Kaif also believed that Kabir Khan was a documentary filmmaker.

"After taking away a big commercial film like Bachna Ae Haseeno, he (Aditya Chopra) gave me this art film, New York. And I was not very happy about it. I was angsty in my heart," she told the tabloid.

However, one Bollywood superstar changed her mind and it was Salman Khan. Since the superstar had a positive impression of Kabir, Salman told Katrina that New York had the potential to become an exceptional film under the filmmaker's guidance.

Although Katrina Kaif was initially reluctant to star in New York, she eventually agreed. Since the actress had tasted success with Singh Is Kinng, she expected the Kabir Khan directorial to have a larger production. However, Katrina was surprised to see a smaller crew and lack of big setups. Having said that, the actress' perception changed once they completed shooting for the movie. 

Shooting for the 2009 film turned out to be a memorable experience for the actress. Katrina felt that working with Kabir was a transformative experience for her. The actress believed Kabir instilled the confidence in her to find her voice.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Katrina was last seen in Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi.
