Speaking to SCREEN, Prakash Jha opened up about Raajneeti 2 and said, “I’m actively working on it." When asked about Ranbir Kapoor’s remark that he found his own performance in Raajneeti underwhelming, the filmmaker noted that it is natural for a good actor to assess their work critically.

"At that moment, he gave his best. Of course, as an actor, or as a director or writer, when you revisit your work, you often feel you could have done better. Context changes over time. But he did a very good job, and of course, there’s always room to do even better," Jha said.

About Raajneeti

Raajneeti, helmed by Prakash Jha, is a hard-hitting political drama drawing inspiration from the Mahabharata. It explores a brutal struggle for power within a political family in Bhopal, dealing with themes of betrayal, duty to family, and violent, high-stakes tactics behind the corridors of power.

The story revolves around internal conflicts within the Rashtrawadi Party after its leader, Bhanu Pratap, falls seriously ill. This leads to a rivalry between his son, Prithviraj (Arjun Rampal), and his nephew, Veerendra (Manoj Bajpayee).

When Samar Pratap (Ranbir Kapoor) returns from the US, he is drawn into this ruthless political arena following his father’s death, evolving from an outsider into a shrewd and calculating player under the guidance of his uncle, Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar). This narrative resembles the Mahabharata, where figures like Suraj (Ajay Devgn) embody Karna, a charismatic leader who rises within the Dalit community despite being an abandoned illegitimate son.
