Marco producer Shareef Muhammed had told the media that he has sought violence to be toned down in his upcoming movies. Reacting to this, Kattalan director Paul George has shed more light on how the makers plan to portray violence in the film.
Saying that Shareef Muhammed did not ask them to entirely avoid violence, debutant Paul George said, "It is not possible to completely avoid violence and make this film."
Explaining why, Paul said that the film is set in an area which is near the forest. "The characters are also a bit eccentric and have a shade of violence. But our film will not have over brutality or such. The extent of violence that stays within the ambit of Censor Board guidelines will certainly be there,” he explained.

Kattalan is the second production of Shareef Muhammed’s Cubes Entertainments, which had also backed Unni Mukundan’s Marco, hailed as the most violent film from Malayalam. The fans of gripping thriller films have been raving about the Marco, while a section of Kerala society has condemned the portrayal of such brutality on screen that even targeted women and children.
Kattalan stars Antony Varghese, who has also headlined several action entertainers such as Ajagajantharam and RDX: Robert Dony Xavier.
Marco stars Unni Mukundan, who goes on a bloody rampage after his foster brother Victor, who is blind, gets killed brutally. Malayalam’s most brutal actioner Marco is available for streaming on Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium. Antony Varghese's Ajagajantharam, and Tovino Thomas-starrer Identity, which also stars Trisha, are also available to stream on OTTplay Premium.
