We have completed almost two months in 2026, but Malayalam cinema is yet to see any major release except for Chatha Pacha. But come summer, all that will change as a bunch of major movies and star-led films are lined up for release. One among them, Kattalan, starring Antony Varghese Pepe, has wrapped up shoot after 140 days. The film is on schedule for its May 2026 release, but did not confirm if it was releasing on May 14 as was announced earlier. Another Malayalam film, Mollywood Times, starring young actor Naslen, is releasing on May 14, 2026.
When is Kattalan releasing
The makers of actor Antony Varghese Pepe’s Kattalan has announced that his upcoming movie has wrapped up shooting. “It’s a Wrap for Kattalan! After 140 days of Schedule, the journey on set finally comes to an end.See you soon on the big screen,” they wrote on Instagram. While it was confirmed that the film would have worldwide theatrical release in May 2026, they did not announce an exact release date.
Earlier this year, the Kattalan team had officially announced on social media that the film would be released on May 14. “The hunt has a date. KATTALAN storms theatres worldwide on May 14,” was the caption then.
Directed by Paul George, the film is backed by the makers of Marco, which starred Unni Mukundan in one of his most ruthless avatars yet. Actors Suneel, Dushara Vijayan, Kabir Duhan Singh, and Parth Tiwari are also part of the action-packed Kattalan.
What is Mollywood Times release date
On Valentine’s Day, the team of Mollywood Times had announced that the Naslen-starrer will hit theatres on May 14, 2026. Filmmaker Abhinav Sunder Nayak directs the upcoming movie.
Not just Mollywood Times, another film Athiradi will also hit theatres the same day. Athiradi stars Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas, Riya Shibu and Vineeth Sreenivasan. Athiradi is said to be campus entertainer.
