The reality quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati once had Shah Rukh Khan as its host. Amitabh Bachchan reprised his responsibilities from the third season of the show. A professor appeared in one of the episodes of the show. Shah Rukh Khan felt embarrassed and everyone else in the audience was astonished by what she said. She remarked, "Mujhe iss show mein aapse gale milne ka koi shauk nahi hai. I quit."

Shah Rukh Khan had to respond with a clever comeback. He said, “Mein aapse ek request karunga. Aap bohot strict hai, aap idhar khara rahiye. Aap agar bura na maane toh mein ye cheque aapki maa ji ko deke aau, kyuki woh mujhse gale jarur milengi." The following scene in the video shows Shah Rukh making his way towards the spectators before giving the contestant's mother the cheque, giving her a bear hug and asking for her blessing.

In an old interview with Indian Express, KBC producer Siddhartha Basu reflected on the Shah Rukh season, and said, “What didn’t work with SRK was the comparison with AB. I think SRK did KBC in his own way with charm and wit, and as far as I know, it garnered good ratings. We have done three shows with SRK, and I believe he is one of the most natural TV hosts who can think on his feet.”
