Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta first got together in Bhijoy Bhaskar’s Nagpanchami in 1994, which was a major commercial success. Ever since the duo delivered one hit after the other. After almost three decades of working together, the duo is all set to begin their 50th film together. Ace director Kaushik Ganguly will be directing the film.

Prosenjit and Rituparna delivered one hit film after the other for a decade before taking a break. Both of them continued to work but not together. They got back again in Suboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Praktan in 2016. In 2018, their performance in Kaushik Ganguly’s Drishtikone was widely appreciated. Now they will be working together once again in their 50th film with Kaushik.

In an interview with Anandabazar, Kaushik said that it is an honour for him. “During Drishtikone, I intended to make their 50th film and that is happening not,” he said. Talking about the film, he said, “It is a story of a relationship. It will not be a tale of a happy couple because our viewers do not seek that happiness,” the director added. He is writing the script and the film will go on the floors in March this year.

Prosenjit pointed out that for Bengali viewers, the pair of Prosenjit-Rituparna still works wonderfully. “There is a magic in this pair for them,” he said. He also mentioned that he has worked with many other heroines in more than 30 films but the viewers are stuck with the magic of Prosenjit-Rituparna.
