Music composer and director Indraadip Dasgupta is all set to direct his new film, Megh Peon. Billed as a homage to eminent filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, the film features Kaushik Ganguly as one of the key characters. This will be Indraadip’s yet another film that features Kaushik Ganguly after Kedara, Bismillah, and Uttwaron.
Earlier, it was reported that the film might feature Abir Chatterjee. However, according to sources, the actor will not be a part of the film. Several other actors will work in the film. If all goes well, the makers will announce the entire cast on August 22. Indraadip has penned the story while Samragnee Bandyopadhyay is working on the script and dialogues. Shadow Films will produce the project. If all goes well, the film will hit the floors by September and will be wrapped before Durga Puja.
Megh Peon is a homage to filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, who coined the term, megh peon, in his song Megh Peoner Khamer Bhitor Mon Kharaper Dista in his film, Titli. While Rituparno penned the lyrics, Debojyoti Mishra composed the song and Srikanto Acharya sang it.
Kaushik has established himself as a seasoned actor. Indraadip’s Bismillah was released in August last year. Kaushik plays the character of Rahim Ali – a shehnai maestro and protagonist Riddhi Sen’s father. His acting was appreciated. In fact, he received awards after his portrayal in Indraadip’s Kedara. Meanwhile, Kaushik is also a busy director. After the success of Ardhangini with Churni Ganguly and Jaya Ahsan, he completed the shooting of Asukh Bisukh with Sayani Ghosh, Ankush, Ishaa Saha, Parambrata Chatterjee and others.
