Kaveri Kapur, daughter of Shekhar Kapur and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, made her film debut this month with Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story on JioHotstar. People may have ignored the Kunal Kohli film but now everyone is talking about her upcoming film, Masoom... The New Generation. Masoom (1983), starring Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi, deftly examined themes of love, adultery, and familial relationships; the veteran director is back with the sequel, taking the audience back to the same universe. Kapur has brought back not just his original cast members, but also Manoj Bajpayee and Nithya Menen for this sequel.
Even though she has only been in one film, Kaveri knows what it's like to be in the sequel of a beloved classic. The newcomer told Mid Day that because she is collaborating with her dad and other accomplished performers, she's feeling apprehensive and terrified. The person who is far ahead of her has a lot to teach her; thus, she is trying to see things from a new perspective.
When asked about her favourite part of the 1983 film, Kaveri said that her dad had very high emotional intelligence. He did an excellent job of expressing the feelings shown in the film. One of his strengths as a filmmaker is his ability to explore complex human emotions and nature.
The performers have started getting ready for the sequel, which Kapur Senior plans to film by mid-2025. A first for Kaveri will be to follow her father's instructions. There will be a shift from father-daughter to director-actor duo on set, and she is nervous about it. Still, she has faith that he would help her discover her artistic potential in new ways.
As a director and an actor, Kaveri is feeling a little anxious about their initial conversations. The process of initiating conversation is the primary source of her anxiety. The rest will fall into place, she is sure of it. On top of that, he knows her better than anyone else. Shekhar will, Kaveri believes, be able to bring forth her greatest qualities.
At a time when nepotism is getting a lot of attention, Kaveri has made her Bollywood debut. This month also saw the theatrical debut of Khushi Kapoor, the younger daughter of Sridevi, and Junaid Khan, the son of Aamir Khan. When asked about her opinion of the competitors, Kaveri said that she will ignore it. In this field, they can all find success in their own unique ways. Art loses its charm when it becomes a competitive endeavour.
