KBC 14: Amitabh Bachchan’s game show now has prize money of Rs 7.5 crores, Rs 75 lakhs guaranteed despite wrong answer

Kaun Banega Crorepati has been upgraded not only for a new season but also, a newer, higher prize money. That’s right. Amitabh Bachchan-hosted show, KBC season 14, will see a higher prize money waiting to be won.

The show, which started at Rs. 1 crore as the highest prize money in season 1, now offers contestants an opportunity to win as much as Rs. 7.5 crores! Yes, you heard it right. The prize money has been raised to further Rs. 50 lakhs, all waiting to be won if you are a GK wiz.

The rise in the prize money comes after nine long years. The first time the prize money grew, it was from Rs. 5 crores in 2012 (season 6) to Rs. 7 crores in 2013 (season 7). The number of questions they had to cross to get that prize money also saw a rise. In season 7 (2013), the contestants had to answer 15 right questions to win the prize money. This went down to 14 right questions in season 8 (2014) and then, the participants had to answer 16 right questions from season 9-season 13 (2017-2021).

Whether the contestants have to cross more questions to get closer to Rs. 7.5 crores mark or are still expected to answer only 16 right questions, is something that remains to be seen. Nonetheless, this season brings an exciting opportunity for all contestants.

In season 14 (2022), the participants who win Rs. 1 crores and aim to win Rs. 7.5 crores, do not have much to fear. Even if they cannot take home Rs. 7.5 crores, these winners will get at least Rs. 75 lakhs, unlike the last seasons.

KBC is synonymous with Amitabh Bachchan. The actor started hosting the show since 2000 and by this year, he completes more than two decades of hosting this popular TV reality show.
