Jaskaran Singh, the young contestant becomes Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 15's first crorepati. Jaskaran's knowledge-based performance in episode 17 of the quiz-based reality show, which is hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, earned the actor's and the audience's hearts.

The 21-year-old Jaskaran wants to work as an IAS officer. He is from a small village of Punjab, Khalra, which is close to the Indian border. Jaskaran is grateful for all the accolades even if he is a little disappointed that he did not win Rs 7 crore.

After winning Rs. 1 crore, Jaskaran tried to answer the Rs. 7 crore question, but he was stumped, so he gave up. Big B praised his choice to give up the game at the dangerous stage.

In the midst of all congratulations, there is a portion of people that criticizes the Kaun Banega Crorepati winners. Particularly when they come from lowly origins, many believe that a select few are chosen by the producers to be announced as the winners.

When asked about the same to Jaskaran, he was quotes as saying by indianexpress: “I think when people do not know about something, they make assumptions. Lakhs or even crores of people across the country have auditioned for KBC. They know that it’s a grilling process to even pass the first few rounds. For the ones who haven’t even tried, they are the ones who make such claims. I want to assure you there is nothing like that. It’s a show based on merit and please do not fall for these claims.”

Kaun Banega Crorepati 15 airs on Sony.
