The fifth match of the Kannada Chalanachitra cup, which was the second on Day 2, had the Ganga Warriors take on the Wodeyar Chargers. Winning the toss, Shivarajkumar sent the Warriors in to bat, choosing for his team to chase instead. Speaking before the match, Shivarajkumar said that he was confident that his boys could pull off a win and said that they saw last evening’s failure as a stepping stone to success.

The Ganga Warriors lost the big hitter from the last match, Karan Aaryan, early on, but skipper Darling Krishna ensured that there was no dearth of runs on the board. He ended the innings with an unbeaten 58, taking the team to 113-3 in their stipulated 10 overs. Shivarajkumar’s Wodeyar Chargers had lost their first match on day 1 of KCC to Kiccha Sudeep’s Hoysala Eagles, as Chris Gayle unleashed a blitzkrieg, making it imperative that they win this match with the Ganga Warriors to stay in contention for the finale. Sadly, despite a late charge by Mohith, who made 72, they wound up their innings at 106 for 5.

After the third match on Day 2, there will be a brief closing ceremony, followed by a final match, between the top two teams, which will be decided based on number of wins, run rate, wickets, etc. At the end of Day 1, the Hoysala Eagles, Ganga Warriors and Kadamba Lions all had one win each, with the Vijayanagar Patriots also chalking up one win on day 2. But in the fifth match of the tournament, the Ganga Warriors won their match with the Wodeyar Chargers, making them the first team to qualify for the finale that will take place later in the day. Shivarajkumar’s team, on the hand, is out of the tournament.
