Among Shahid's greatest works is Maharashtra's unofficial anthem Jai Jai Maharashtra Maajha. This anthem was also a part of the announcement on Kedar's social media handles.
The filmmaker has, however, not yet revealed details about who will act in the movie as Shahir. It would not be a surprise if Kedar wishes to portray his grandfather himself on the big screen.
However, he did announce that the film will release in 2023. There is still no certainty if it will be a theatrical or direct-to-OTT release.
Kedar Shinde is a well-known filmmaker in the Marathi film industry. He has helmed movies like Majha Navra Tujhi Baiko and Irada Pakka.
Maharashtra Shahir is written by Pratima Kulkarni. She had helmed the play Ashrunchi Zali Phule. Pratima had also acted in Aamir Khan's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par.
