Kenatha Kanom, the 2026 Tamil rural comedy drama starring Yogi Babu in the lead role, released on Friday (March 13) in theatres. Directed by filmmaker Suresh Sangaiah, Kenatha Kanom marks posthumous release of the director, who passed away in 2024. Here is how much the film made in theatres on the first day.

The recently released Tamil film Kenatha Kanom is running in theatres. Headlined by actor-comedian Yogi Babu, the film is written and directed by Suresh Sangaiah who is no more. Kenatha Kanom has made Rs 14 lakh worldwide on its first day at the box office. With no star names associated and being a humble project, Kenatha Kanom is expected to sustain only through word of mouth, even as the film opened to middling reviews.

Kenatha Kanom is currently running in theatres, and with no prominent releases this week, is expected to see some crowd. However, it must capitalise this weekend, given the next week will witness the Eid storm and biggie like Dhurandhar 2 set to takeover screens.

Kenatha Kanom’s post-theatrical streaming rights have been bagged by JioHotstar. The film will stream there after the theatrical run. An OTT release date is yet to be announced by the makers.
The rural comedy drama revolves around a water-starved village where the residents are hit by severe drought. As they decide to dig up a well, the villagers make a startling discovery, leading to the archaeological department take over the village for their excavation purposes. Besides Yogi Babu, the film also features Lovelyn Chandrasekhar, Ramakrishnan, Raichel Rabecca, George Mariyam, Mottai Rajendiran, Kavitha Barathi, Kalaipandiyan, Hello Kandasamy and many others. The technical crew includes Nivas K Prasanna scoring the music and V Thiyagarajan as the cinematographer. R Ramar has edited the rural drama.
