Since the first teaser of Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy, starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, was released, curiosity around the film has only increased. This increased with its premiere at the ongoing 76th Cannes Film Festival.
Rahul is going back to the festival with a film alongside his favourite filmmaker, Anurag. And in a conversation with OTTplay, the actor could not hold back his excitement.
After the release of its teaser, Kennedy received a lot of positive response, and there has been a lot of chatter on the internet around Rahul's look. He has even been compared to action stalwarts like Liam Neeson and Oscar Isaac.
Reacting to this, Rahul told OTTplay, "I’m a big fan of both of them, so it’s definitely very flattering. But the credit for that goes to the teaser, which has evoked strong reactions. Kudos to the team that cut the teaser and managed to capture the mood of the film so beautifully. I’m excited to find out how people will feel after watching the film."
The actor made his debut at the Cannes Film Festival with the film Ugly, which premiered in the Directors' Fortnight section at Cannes 2013. The film was well received by global audiences.
Getting nostalgic about that, Rahul said, "Ugly premiered almost to the day 10 years ago. But it still feels like yesterday. And here we are again, with Kennedy being screened at the Grand Theatre Lumiere in front of a room of over 2,000 cinephiles. It is nothing short of a dream come true. I could get used to this!"
Kennedy is about an insomniac former police officer, and the film is about how things in his personal life keep unfolding.
The film also stars Sunny Leone, Abhilash Thapliyal, and Mohit Takalkar.
Rahul has also worked with Anurag on Dobaaraa and Ugly.
