Sharing a post on his Instagram account, Akshay Kumar wrote, "C Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon. He fought the British Empire with the law — and with fire in his soul. This 18th APRIL, we bring you the court trial they never taught in textbooks."
It is the story of the legal battle fought against the British Empire by Advocate C. Sankaran Nair. He was a former President of the Indian National Congress. The film revolves around Sankaran Nair's fight to uncover the truth behind the massacre.

Kesari Chapter 2 is the sequel to Kesari (2019) and has been garnering a lot of attention not only because of the plot but also the ensemble cast. The film features Akshay Kumar as C. Sankaran Nair. On the other hand, R. Madhavan will be seen as Neville McKinley (a lawyer representing the British Empire), and Ananya Panday as Dilreet Gill, a female lawyer, who also fights for justice with Akshay's character.
The cast also includes Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day, Steven Hartley, and others.
Kesari Chapter 2 has been garnering high expectations as the film is all set to explore one of the most-talked about tragic events, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
During the trailer launch event of Kesari Chapter 2, Akshay Kumar said, "The people of Punjab are all very brave, loyal, and filled with valour. And I want to bring their stories in front of everyone. I want to make 'Kesari 3 and 4'. There are so many chapters in Punjab and in the whole of India... I want to bring out the valour, the things which India does."
He also mentioned that he has done it earlier because our history books have been written according to the British, and he is eager to bring the actual history in front of people.
R. Madhavan blew our minds with his negative role in Shaitaan, co-starring Ajay Devgn. After this, he is all set to portray a negative role in Kesari Chapter 2. It will be an interesting watch to see him battling against Akshay and Ananya's characters in the film.
During the trailer launch, the actor shared that the chapter of Jallianwala Bagh has been very irritating in school because the year and events had to be memorized for the exams. But he mentioned that later in life, he realized the impact of the event. "When I did the film, I realized that this is one of the biggest genocides in the world. I felt that no other stories can be better than this for me. I don't mind whether my character is negative or positive," he said.
The first song of the film, titled O Shera - Teer Te Taj, was released recently and it was well-received on social media. One fan said, "Powerful motivation song." Another commented, "Oo Shera hits different." The song is composed by Sangtar, and the lyrics are written by Sukhwinder Amrit. The song is sung by Manmohan Waris, Kamal Heer, and Sangtar. The song is rich in patriotism and built anticipation for the movie.
Kesari Chapter 2 is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Aruna Bhatia, Adar Poonawalla, Anand Tiwari, and Amritpal Singh Bindra.
