KGF-Chapter 2: Rocking Star Yash’s film to get US premiere on April 13

The countdown to the release of the much-anticipated KGF sequel has begun. Nearly three-and-a-half years after director Prashant Neel’s KGF: Chapter 1 came out and became one of the biggest Kannada blockbusters, its sequel KGF: Chapter 2 is set for release on April 14. To be in theatres in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, the film has been creating a lot of buzz ever since it was announced that KGF would be a two-part project. And now, with less than a month to go, this buzz is set to hit crescendo.

Hombale Films, the producers of KGF, who had a fantastic relationship with the late Puneeth Rajkumar, having backed three of his films, waited patiently for the release of his last commercial movie, James, to begin promotions of their own much-anticipated KGF: Chapter 2. But now, they’ve come out all guns blazing, quite literally.

While a trailer launch was announced earlier for March 27, they’ve followed that up with a lyrical video release of the song Toofan, which will drop on March 20. Preparations for the world-wide release of the film are also on in full swing, with the team announcing that KGF: Chapter 2 will get its US premiere on April 13. This would, technically, coincide with the film’s India release, given the time zone difference.

Amid the pre-release buzz, reports also state that Hombale Films closed a 100-crore deal with Zee5 for the OTT rights of KGF: Chapter 2 and their next big production, the Prabhas-starrer Salaar. The magnum-opus KGF has a massive ensemble cast, including Srinidhi Shetty, Archana Jois, Vasishta N Simha, Achyuth Kumar, Malavika Avinash, Ayyappa P Sharma, John Kokken, Tarak Ponnappa, Ramachandra Raju, among many others, with the second instalment including Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon into this power-packed mix.
