KGF: Chapter 2 introduces Sanjay Dutt as the villainous Adheera, who invites the wrath of Yash’s Rocky. Dutt recently opened up about his role in the Prashanth Neel directorial.
In conversation with Pinkvilla, Dutt was asked of his character in the 1999 film Vaastav: The Reality, in which he essayed the role of a gangster named Raghu. The actor explained that although both Raghu and Rocky were both gangsters, the circumstances which led the characters to a life of crime were different. Raghu was forced to become a gangster due to his ‘needs’ and to help his family.
“Both (Raghu and Rocky) have their own individualities, but their swag is very similar,” added Dutt.
The actor also had nothing but good things to say of his director. Saying he was ‘amazed’ by the way the director spoke of Adheera, Dutt said he had agreed to do the role instantly, and said Prashanth Neel knew exactly what he wanted. Dutt also said that of all the directors he worked with, he was definitely in the ‘top ten’.
Dutt also talked in length of how he believed that Bollywood has gone ‘soft’ at present, staying away from heroic and larger than life characters and now focussing more on slice of life films with ‘boy next door’ characters. He talked of how he grew up watching ‘macho’ characters on screen played by stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. “The South never forgot the heroism, which I think we did,” said Dutt.
Prakash Raj, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Ramachandra Raju, Vasishta N Simha, Saran Sakthi, Archana Jois, Malavika Avinash and Achyuth Kumar also play pivotal roles in KGF: Chapter 2.
KGF: Chapter 2, released on April 14, is now playing in theatres. The film had grossed over Rs 100 crore at the box office on its opening day. The film can be watched in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi.
