KGF – Chapter 2 star Yash: Both Malayalam and Kannada cinema respect content and believe in originality

Director Prashanth Neel and Yash’s KGF in 2018 had a huge role to play in increasing the visibility of Kannada cinema and its technicians. At a press meet held in Kochi ahead of KGF: Chapter 2’s release, the actor talked about how he hopes that in the future both Malayalam and Kannada cinema would be able to join hands for films that focus on content.

Talking about how Malayalam cinema has been spearheading this mission, Yash said, “Malayalam industry has always set an example. I believe both Malayalam and Kannada industry can relate to each other because we are not here just to showcase the showbiz or big-scale films; we respect the content, the effort and we believe in our culture and originality. I believe all of us should work together so that others start looking up at our industry. Malayalam cinema has paved that way, and a huge respect to all the directors and actors in Malayalam. I hope in the future we are able to join hands, and celebrate cinema.”

The actor also praised the Malayalam dubbing of the upcoming sequel of KGF, which is set to hit theatres on April 14. Director Shankar Ramakrishnan had supervised the Malayalam dubbing of KGF: Chapter 2 and had roped in almost 80 artistes to ensure that he got the emotions of the characters on point this time.

“I know how many days (Shankar) has worked on the film,” said Yash. “He is very dedicated and it’s also because of his love for cinema and the kind of commitment he had for Malayalam. He just wanted to get (the dubbing) right. It was important to have a person who can guide us and give the audience the best experience.”
