Although there was no official confirmation from the streamer that holds the digital rights of the film, May 27 has been widely reported as D-Day for when Rocky Bhai will be on OTT

When Amazon Prime Video was announced as the digital partner of KGF: Chapter 2, it didn’t come as much of a surprise. The platform hosts KGF: Chapter 1 also, so it made sense for them to buy this too. What did not happen subsequently, though, is an official announcement about when to expect the film to start streaming. While Prime Video picks most titles for an on or before 30-days from theatrical release deal, KGF: Chapter 2 was reportedly sold with twice that time limit.
According to reports, Hombale Films swung the deal in favour of on or before 50-days from date of release with the streaming platform. Today, is day 43 since KGF: Chapter 2 hit theatres on April 14. And the film has been available on the platform for 10 days already, albeit as a rental option at an additional payment of Rs 199, over and above subscription cost. While the Video-on-demand option did not sit well with subscribers, given that it gives them access to the video for 48 hours only, they have been looking out for when the five versions will be available at no additional cost. That day is supposed to be May 27. Prime Video’s standard practice is to make new titles available at 12 am, which means KGF: Chapter 2 will begin streaming in under seven hours. Incidentally, around the same time, a hi-definition print of the film was rumoured to have been pirated and available for download.
A quick look at Prime Video’s social media feed though gives no indication of such a big title dropping and there’s been no communication from the streamer in this regard. Did everyone get this story wrong or will KGF: Chapter 2 appear on its library with no prior intimation, just as the case was with the video-on-demand option? Well, we will know in a few hours. Until then, sit tight, or better still, watch/re-watch KGF: Chapter 1.
KGF: Chapter 2, produced by Hombale Films and directed by Prashant Neel, has Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Avinash, Raveena Tandon, BS Avinash, Tarak Ponnappa, among others on its cast. The film is currenty still in theatres, having broken several box office records on its way to a whopping Rs 1,200+ crore at the global box office.
