KGF thrives on the underdog sentiment; everyone loves to see an underdog win: Yash

In the last few weeks, fans of Rocking Star Yash have been highlighting the similarities between him and his onscreen character, Rocky, from the KGF universe. Rocky’s had a rags-to-riches rise in stature, while Yash too hailed from a middle-class family and had his fair share of struggle before getting to enjoy superstardom. And that, Yash says, is what appeals to him and audiences about Rocky – the underdog sentiment.

Speaking to the media during the promotions for KGF: Chapter 2, which is releasing in theatres on April 14, Yash reiterated that the film, directed by Prashant Neel is a classic underdog tale. And the beauty of that is that people like such tales and always root for the underdog. “People want the underdog to win and it’s nice to be an underdog,” he was quoted as saying.

Produced by Hombale Films, KGF: Chapter2 is the second and final chapter of the KGF saga, the first of which came out in December 2018. The first film was a massive hit, making the franchise and Rocky much sought-after across the country. Since advance online bookings were opened for the film abroad and most parts of the country, barring Karnataka and the Andhra/Telangana belt, the response has been phenomenal.

The film has Rocking Star Yash in the lead, along with Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Achyuth Kumar, Saran Sakthi, Archana Jois, Vasishta N Simha, Tarak Ponnappa, John Kokken, Ayyappa P Sharma, BS Avinash, Malavika Avinash, among many others. The film has cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda and music by Ravi Basrur. The film is being presented in North-Indian markets by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and AA Films.
