The makers of the forthcoming Malayalam movie Khalifa - The Bloodline have dropped a major update about its cast today (December 6). It has been confirmed that Mohanlal will play Prithviraj Sukumaran's grandfather in this highly anticipated action thriller.

The teaser shows police and customs looking for gold smuggling networks in Kerala, Nepal, the Middle East, and London. It soon becomes clear that Indrans' character, Hamsa, is informed by the authorities that his boss, Aamir Ali, will be assassinated if he enters India due to the COFEPOSA Act. 

Hamza responds by describing the legacy of Aamir Ali and his grandfather, Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali. He may be seen asking the officer if he can capture Aamir. Viewers are then treated to brief glimpses of violence and furious action against the backdrop of distant locales. The producers have also stated that the action thriller will be presented on the big screen in Onam 2026.

The film, which is touted to be a revenge action thriller, was first announced in 2022. Production on this eagerly awaited movie started in London in August of this year under the direction of Vysakh. The high-profile film would mostly be shot in Kerala, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates, as previously reported. The details of the remaining Khalifa cast members are unknown, but they will probably be made official soon.
