Khalifa: Not Dubai, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Vysakh's revenge thriller to kickstart in this European city
Khalifa: Prithviraj Sukumaran's upcoming Malayalam film, which is touted to be a revenge thriller, was announced way back in 2022. Vysakh directs the film, which will start shooting next month.

Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran is busy with multiple projects, across languages. Prithviraj’s next Malayalam film Khalifa, helmed by director Vysakh, has officially been launched. The film, which is touted to be a revenge thriller, was announced way back in 2022.
Prithviraj’s Khalifa begins
The upcoming Malayalam film Khalifa, starring Prithviraj in the lead, was launched with a pooja ceremony on July 16, 2025. Vysakh is directing this film, which is set to start shooting in London on August 6, 2025.
The big-budget film, with mass elements, will be shot majorly in UAE and Dubai, it was reported earlier. The film will also be shot in Nepal and Kerala.
The film is scripted by Jinu Abraham, who had previously penned films such as Adam Joan and Kaduva, both starring Prithviraj in the lead. Jinu was also the director for Adam Joan, which was set mostly in Europe. Jinu is also co-producing Khalifa, which will also have actors from other industries. But the rest of the cast details are not known.
Jakes Bejoy has been roped in to score the music, while Jomon T John is the cinematographer and Chaman Chakko serves as the editor for Khalifa.
The film was announced on Prithviraj’s birthday in October 2022. Director Vysakh had two releases that year - Night Drive with Roshan Mathew and Anna Ben, and Monster led by Mohanlal. His last directorial was Mammootty-starrer Turbo.
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s films
Prithviraj was last seen in L2 Empuraan, which he also directed. The sequel to the 2019 hit film Lucifer, Empuraan starred Mohanlal in the lead role. The film was a blockbuster hit despite the controversies.
The actor is now gearing up for the release of the Hindi film, Sarzameen, which also stars Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan in key roles. Set against the tumultuous backdrop of Kashmir, the film will drop on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium on July 25, 2025. Prithviraj is also part of ace Telugu filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s much-hyped SSMB29, which stars Mahesh Babu in the lead along with Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Another upcoming Malayalam film of Prithviraj is Nobody, directed by Nissam Basheer and also features Parvathy Thiruvothu.
