Khamoshi to Heeramandi – Manisha Koirala believes Sanjay Leela Bhansali is still the same man despite his extensive work

When it comes to movies, earlier projects always remain special for an actor as well as the filmmaker. Same appears to be the case with Manisha Koirala and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who worked together in Khamoshi: The Musical early on in their careers. The duo has now collaborated for Heeramandi and the magic unfolds once again. Manisha, who has seen the filmmaker since such a long time, believes that he has not changed despite his extensive work.

Manisha spoke to ETimes about staying friends with Sanjay Leela Bhansali since their first movie together. She then recalled about talks of working in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. “We are very fond of each other,” Manisha said, adding that life took them in different directions.

How Manisha bagged Heeramandi

Not expecting Heeramandi in the least, Manisha revealed that she was rather chilling in Nepal when she got the project. “It’s a huge surprise for me,” the actress said about her reaction on being offered the role in the very project.

“I still see him as Sanjay,” Manisha said, adding that she saw a man who had a great potential then. She called him passionate about cinema and someone who lived for cinema. The actress said that he’s the same filmmaker. “He’s not really changed,” Manisha recalled, asserting that she means he’s the same as a person while having extensive filmography to his credit.

She further mentioned not having any doubt when offered the role. Manisha, as an actor, openly welcomed doing something she had not done before. The actress exclaimed the importance of walking on an unknown territory for her to evolve as an actor. “I took it up and wanted to give my 200-300%,” she said.
