Kheyali Mondol, who plays the titular role in Star Jalsha mega serial Aalta Phoring, has been learning gymnastics since her childhood. It is because of her knack in the sport, she got the serial offer when she was in her college. Recently, she attended a gymnastic competition, hosted by West Bengal Gymnastic Association. In an interview with Anandabazar Patrika, she said that she feels great when people call her by her real name.

Talking about her popularity, she said that it feels great. “Everyone recognised me here in the competition. It is great,” said the actress, who confessed that she had no plan of becoming an actress. “I used to learn dancing, hence the acting came naturally to me,” she said.

Talking about her lover for her real name, she said, “Everyone calls me Phoring on set. Initially, I used to feel bad. I used to wonder if some of them could call me Kheyali. Even today, if someone calls me Kheyali, I feel better,” she said.

Talking about TRP rating, Kheyali said that while it initially used to affect her, now she got used to it. She said that as an actress, she has to keep on working.

The serial deals with the life of Aalta Phoring – a budding gymnast. Her mother (Saoli Chattopadhyay), a veteran gymnast who was unduly removed from the sports circuit, trains her. Phoring gets married to Abhra (Arnab Banerjee). She realises that Abhra’s distant relative Nirmal Banerjee, played by Amitabh Bhattacharjee, is her biological father and unfairly removed her mother from the sports circuit.

Aalta Phoring is produced by Susanta Das under the banner of Tent Cinema.
